COMPANY OVERVIEW

We Start With Your Questions
When Starting - Your concept could revolutionize an industry, but how might you commercialize it? You want to incorporate, but unsure which best meets your long term needs, an S Corp., a C Corp., or a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC)? Is it better to start your business by contracting out your services, asking for seed capital from friends & family, selling equity to investors, and/or bartering with strategic partners?

While Growing - Can your bottom line increase faster by staying independent or by joining with others? Should you outsource or build in-house? What's the best way to market your product or service? Should you announce your new product before completing development, or wait until every detail is proven?

Medical and Biotech Developments, Inc. can help you answer these questions on the road to entrepreneurial success.

What We Do
Evaluating business potential, timing, and market fit.
Researching markets is the start point to maximize business potential.
Brainstorming sessions help you set strategic goals.
Starting-up requirements: what you need and what you can do without.
Spining-off a technology that doesn't fit your core business.
Negotiating term sheets, licenses, and letters of understanding.

How We've Helped
Strategic Assistance - Sam Burd (President of Medical and Biotech Developments, Inc.) co-founded The Spark Group, LLC (The Spark) in mid 2000 with two instructors from UC Berkeley. The Spark's expertise included market research, business model analysis, business planning, company structure, source senior management, funding sources, legal ramifications, negotiations, and preparation of VC/Board/agency presentations. The Spark provided strategic hands-on assistance to entrepreneurs with the following:
    Writing business plans
    Starting up independent companies
Assisting early stage companies in reaching their potential
Preparing spin-off of in-house research department from a
            pharmaceutical company

Teaching and Mentoring - Many of our Specialists were part of the instruction staff at University of California, Berkeley in the E-110 class "Starting Entrepreneurial Companies". Since 1985, this class has taught negotiating strategic deals, Venture Capital funding, non-equity financing, writing business plans, and concept evaluation.

Coaching Transitioning Executives - Coached for the outplacement firm, Center for Executive Options (CEO), a Drake Beam Morin Company for upper level executives. When requested by hi-level managers being layoff, entrepreneurial career plans were explored.

Instruction on Independent Consulting - Classes on starting as an Independent Consultant were taught at the University of California Berkeley Extension. The class helped people to decide if consulting was a good opportunity, how one would get started, self marketing, expanding a business, and optimizing consulting.
